During those times that you feel that trying just one more day, one more hour, one more minute will be far too much to deal with, a fresh perspective can sometimes be a palliative, or at least a bit of a relief for a day, an hour, a minute. A change in your perspective may also change how others look at you, thus changing your entire attitude. Before a person can work on a change in perspective that person must first realize that there is a problem or situation to alter. As with the leaves in the creek above we can change our look or our very selves to bring the beauty of life to attention. Once you are seen to fight adversity with better choices in life, and don’t waver, the way you look at a difficult situation will change. If that situation involves people it is likely that they will look at you differently and the difficulty is again minimized or overcome. The most powerful way to deal with each days,’ weeks,’ or months’ adversities is to allow yourself to come at the trouble with your new and improved version and vision. This will also give you more power over yourself and your problem. This is not to say that problems will cease to exist; problems will always exist. However the way they are dealt with can more easily solve the problem or perhaps even show there wasn’t really a problem in the first place. Looking at situations from two or more points of view shows flexibility and a willingness to solve problems among a group rather than taking on a load alone and rejecting help. Although we may think we are taking on that load to help, most likely we’re taking on a load alone thinking we will be admired. That is not necessarily so. Or if we take on a load thinking only we can possibly solve a problem, we are fooling ourselves as well. The way to take on adversity is to confront it directly with as many points of view as we can discover, then make a decision after rational thought, and consensus if working with a group. Would you rather take tasks on alone and single mindedly or choose from a variety of carefully thought out options?

I've been struck many times by the thoughts that run through my head when I'm outdoors and contemplating nothing in particular. The thoughts can be profound or silly, sad or joyful, relevant or not. But they're always there. And with just a bit of concentration they can lead to the most astonishing places and on the most convoluted trails. Exploring those vagaries and jigs and jogs is fun. I'm attempting to find more of these trails to see if they lead anywhere or nowhere, because even nowhere is somewhere. The bits and pieces of the outdoors help to make the indoors survivable. Photos help bring the outdoors in and remind me of many of the thoughts I had while still outside, a very valuable tool they are, too.
