Laughter is one of the most healthy things we can do for ourselves,it can get us out of any number or kinds of rough spots, and serves as a mood thermometer. Mostly, laughter is an expression of pure good feelings. There are many kinds of laughter used in positive ways, frequently without us even knowing they have a use such as healing, commiserating, or spontaneous gle. They all serve as a release of emotion as well as an expression of an emotion. One would hope that the story of laughter would stop there. However, laughter is also used in negative ways. Using laughter negatively should be considered a crime since it involves intent to harm, nastiness, and plain old meanness. Anytime the intent is to harm you’re dealing with entities lost and depraved and it is best to stay as far away as possible. Unfortunately it is sometimes difficult to tell when laughter or incited laughter is malicious. But not usually, there is something that just sounds wrong in the tone and the timbre of  a noxious laugh that warns you you’re in the presence of something nasty and that you should leave. fortunately we have choices here, we can choose to leave the vicinity of those who laugh perniciously and we can choose to laugh heartily and long when we’re with like-minded others, as the bear above is doing. When we’re all laughing together we can overcome much. We can choose to help a friend who has had some misfortunes with a rueful laugh, or we can laugh hysterically at absolutely nothing until our guts ache and tears are streaming down our faces to release the tension of a hard day, week, or month. We can laugh affectionately. We can laugh. Isn’t laughter the best cure for many ills and evils?

I've been struck many times by the thoughts that run through my head when I'm outdoors and contemplating nothing in particular. The thoughts can be profound or silly, sad or joyful, relevant or not. But they're always there. And with just a bit of concentration they can lead to the most astonishing places and on the most convoluted trails. Exploring those vagaries and jigs and jogs is fun. I'm attempting to find more of these trails to see if they lead anywhere or nowhere, because even nowhere is somewhere. The bits and pieces of the outdoors help to make the indoors survivable. Photos help bring the outdoors in and remind me of many of the thoughts I had while still outside, a very valuable tool they are, too.
